Market Access
A cornerstone of CGA activities is to Gain, Retain and Optimize (GRO) market access. This helps southern African citrus growers to access reliable and lucrative markets.
The core team responsible for market access and development efforts in Asia and the Middle East includes CGA CEO, Justin Chadwick, and Market Access Liaison, Amy Grundling. For the European Union (EU), the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, the team is led by EU Special Envoy, Deon Joubert, and Market Access Liaison, Jana Janse van Rensburg. Additionally, CRI CEO, Prof. Vaughan Hattingh, and CRI Market Access Coordinator, Dr. Elma Carstens, play a key role in driving market access with a focus on addressing Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) issues.
Consumer Assurance
CGA supports citrus producers by providing information about current and future consumer assurance requirements. This portfolio consists of Food Safety and Sustainability. Attention is given to changes in maximum residue levels (MRLs). CGA works closely with CRI and other external experts to then determine the appropriate recommended usages for crop protection products to comply with importing countries’ requirements.
The CGA Food Safety and Sustainability Strategic Plan provides direction to the team to ensure the most urgent matters are being addressed. An increasing import component of the work now revolves around providing assurance to consumers about the sustainable manner in which citrus is produced and distributed. Here the Citrus Sustainability Forum is playing an import role in bringing the citrus industry players together to talk about key sustainability issues.
Albert Coetzee oversees the portfolio, with a focus on Sustainability and is joined by Paula Bester as the Food Safety Specialist. Paul Hardman and Prof Vaughan Hattingh also provides oversight on technical food safety matters. Expertise is drawn from a range of fields to support the work, including many specialist within CRI.

Logistics
An increasingly important factor impacting citrus producers’ profitability is the ability of supply chains to work effectively and economically. Major challenges are documented around the effectiveness of the SA road network, rail network and throughput at the sea ports. These factors are, in turn, compounded by the lack of shipping opportunities to some markets in key marketing windows.
The logistics team seek to unblock some of these bottlenecks and promote more effective supply chains.
Logistics Team
Mitchell Brooke manages the portfolio, with Faisal Asmal and Rauff Dawood coordinating the special export programs.

Transformation
Ensuring that new and existing black farmers become and remain successful is critical for the transformation of the citrus industry.
The Citrus Development Chamber is made of black citrus producers from across the country. This institution provides oversight of the CGA transformation activities.
A purpose built vehicle, the CGA Grower Development Company, is a subsidiary of CGA and was created to manage the day-to-day and project support to black growers.

Finance
The CGA would not be in existence if not for the successful collection of the Statutory Levies imposed on every carton of citrus that is exported from Southern Africa. As the company has grown it has also become important to put certain measures in place to ensure the effective financial administration and corporate governance of the orgnisation.
Finance Team
Robert Miller heads up the small finance team at CGA, working closely with Shelly Crosson.
